A Ship A Gale A Mermaid Tale; Such a simple title, but WOW, what an incredible story. I completed reading this adventure last night and felt compelled to write this review today. I decided to take a look at this book when I saw a friend post a referral of it. After reading the first two chapters on Amazon, with the “Look inside” feature, I was pleasantly surprised by the writing style and idyllic beginning with the first two chapters. OK, I’ll take the plunge and see what the rest of the story develops into, and if can hold its own. After purchasing the book on kindle, I became immersed in the story telling. There was one point in the story where I did not agree with actions of the main character, but continued on due to the way the author was able to unfold each section of the story. I was not disappointed, as I was taken on an adventure that was vivid, full, and had realism in the witting style. As I approached the later parts in the book, I didn’t want it to end, and wondered if the ending could match what I had read so far. After finishing the story, I had a sense that I had just read something very special. I felt that I had just lived through a complete and full lifetime, being so immersed in this tale with a clear view of every moment in my mind, and now I was back out into my own reality once again. To me, this was a true masterpiece as with the classics of the past, but in a writing style with realism of today. I truly believe that I have been given much more through the reading of the story than I have given in return, which compelled me to give something more back with this review. I hope many other get the chance to enjoy this tale and look forward to future adventures. Thank you.Product details

This was an amazing effort from a first time author. I found the book to be well thought out and the character development was exceptional.
A must read if you enjoy this type of seafaring adventure. I am hoping to see another book from Larry in the near future.

Loved it! Definitely not the run of the mill mermaid story but very enjoyable & wonderfully written. Loved getting a little information about the time period along with a fabulous story. It could almost be categorized a fairy tale. I'm left yearning for more.
I hope for a follow up story that tells of Kathryn passing on the pendant to another in need. I'm also left very curious about her children. Are they entirely human, or will they have their own seafaring adventures? Looking forward to more works from this aspiring author.
Very well done Mr. Buckingham. You've made me a lifelong fan.
